Oxford Grove leave The Lane with nothing...

FIRST Game Down at the Lane Breightmet United Lion's V Oxford Grove...

The Lion's started with the same team as last week after the win and the 3 other lads on holiday. So that meant Oliver Charlie Ray Sweeper Lincoln Stuart Nico Alby Brad. The boys flew out the traps in Minute one with a well worked goal Lincoln Stuart 1-2 in the middle of the park A Through ball To the Lions new Number 9 Nico Rayson Opened up his Goal Scoring Account with a thunderbolt that there keeper had no chance with it Lion's took there 1 Goal lead but unfortunately the lions wasn't switched on and Oxford Grove went straight down the other End and even the contest up with a goal of there own 1 1 after 1 minute of football...

The Lion's were told to calm down and play to the game plan which was Alby Nico Bradley to press the grove back line Stuart Lincoln to squeeze onto the half way line and Charlie-Ray to sweep up behind with his pace. Lion's took control of the midfield area and should have gone back in front with a near miss from Alby but they played some great football through the lines and it was a joy to watch Lincoln managed to get himself on the end of a Lions corner set piece to put the lions 2 1 in front...

It was s very important that Charlie Ray was switched on being the lone sweeper and speak with Oliver and they did it very well limiting Grove to not much action in the first half . We freshened the midfield role up on 17 minutes to give Lincoln and Stuart a much needed rest so we put Archie and Reggie in there and they broke up the play well and played some great forward passes for the lions attack. Brad Nico Alby played some lovely football but with 5 minutes left of the half Alby had run his socks off and showed signs he was tired so Leejay came on for him and we stiffened the centre midfield position up and the Lion's went in at the break in front...

Half-time: BREIGHTMET UNITED LIONS 2-1 Oxford Grove Wildcats

Bradley got a knock and needed to come off so Alby came back on and Rio came on for Charlie Ray At Sweeper/centre-back.

It was a start from Grove who got them level unfortunately due to a deflected shot which Oliver Hhd no chance with. 2-2!

The Lions then got into gear playing some great football through the lines Nico Alby pressing for the lions attack Reggie Archie Lee-jay winning the balls in centre midfield Rio keeping the lions back line solid Reggie was unlucky with a free kick which ended up a goal line scramble but the ball just wouldn't go in Stuart and Lincoln was back on in Cm and started where they left off the Lion's were knocking on the grove door but they couldn't get the ball in the net...

Nico went close again so did Alby after a great performance from Nico getting his Goal and working hard for the Team with 13 minutes left Bradley came on to give Nico his well earned rest and almost grabbed us a goal but a good save from the Grove keeper kept it out but then the breakthrough - the lions scored a devastating counter-attack goal sucking Grove in and bang! a great ball over the top from Rio put Alby the Debut boy 1v1 Alby skinned his centre-back and slotted the lions 3 2 in front! Superb!

The boys deserved their lead and should have scored a few more with around 8 minutes to play the coaches decided to put the well established partnership of Rio Charlie Ray Together and protect what we had and see the game out which we did. All the boys in the lions engine room Reggie Archie Leejay Stuart and LeeJay did their jobs the front 3 Bradley Nico Alby worked well together and Rio Charlie Oliver managed to keep the lions back line solid a well deserved Victory today for the boys in their new black green kits...

Oliver in blue a Team Performance a great Win and a well deserved Debut goal and Man of the Match and team of the week nomination goes to Alby Robinson well done to hIs sponsor NVO Consolidation! A massive, big thankyou to Legends7 for the new kits as well - the boys look class in it!

Up the Breightmet Lions!
