Today the Tycoons travelled to Cannonslade high school to play our Friends from Turton Tigers, with the Tycoons looking to make it 6 wins on the bounce and it would be done on a heavy pitch after a few days of rain.

The coaches message was to start fast, press high and gain control of the game early and the team certainly did that moving the ball quickly up the slope before gaining a lead from a peach of a free kick from team captain Mason that was wide on the left about 5 yards from the touch line that was swung in towards the back post over everyone and in to the goal.

The Tycoons were up and running and it didn’t take long to add to the tally when defensive rock Michael intercepted a Turton pass out before unleashing a 30 yard thunderbolt which left the Turton keeper no chance, 2 up and the Tycoons fans buoyant confidence was growing and it wasn’t long before a lovely through ball from Jonah for Josh to run on to in a 1 v 1 with the keeper that Josh tucked away nicely.

Turton to the credit were battling well and pounced on a moments indecisiveness at the back thinking there player was offside instead of playing to the whistle for them to nab a goal back against the run of play with a neat finish to make it 3-1 but the Tycoons regathered and a stinging shot from Mason was parried into the path of oncoming winger Aiden who netted to make it 4-1 to the Tycoons.

Going into half time the message was that of continuity and keep the passing and moving up and it wasn’t long before the Tycoons had the ball in the Turton net again with a fine finish from Tycoons striker Charlie, the game ebbed and flowed as Turton tried to gain a foothold on the second half before a lightning Tycoon counter attack left striker Charlie to net his second of the game.

The Tycoons were in cruise control and pressed Turton back testing there keeper with stinging shots and dangerous crosses into the box which reaped reward when super sub Arthur getting in on the scoring with a close range header from a corner to add to Turton’s woes.

At 7-1 the game looked to be heading to a hard earned win for the Tycoons before a clumsy challenge left the Tycoons with 10 minutes left to see out the game a man down, undeterred by this the Tycoons defended diligently for the remaining minutes before Turton pounced on a through ball to nudge it past Tycoons keeper Callum to add what turned out to be nothing more then a late consolation as the final whistle went a couple of minutes later.

A great win for the Tycoons and another 3 points on the board that keeps the Tycoons on top of the league with more big games to come over the coming weeks
