Eagles in Pink Make the League Blink
AFC Burnden Park 0 - 4 Breightmet United
Breightmet United soared to another impressive victory, proving once again why they are a force to be reckoned with in the league. A determined performance saw them overcome a tricky first half to secure a dominant 4-0 win over AFC Burnden Park.
They made the perfect start when Maicie struck after just 10 minutes, finishing clinically to put her side ahead. She doubled her tally in the 25th minute, latching onto a chance with confidence—clear evidence that the extra shooting practice is starting to pay off.
However, momentum took a hit when Miley was forced off with a foot injury in the 18th minute. Without her presence in midfield, Breightmet found themselves camped in their own half, struggling to break out as Burnden Park pressed.
Despite the pressure, the defensive pairing of Molly Banton and Lottie stood firm, keeping the opposition at bay. With Miley returning for the second half, Breightmet quickly regained control, with Scarlett and Niamh Kitson stretching the play and causing havoc down the wings.
The breakthrough after the restart came from a Miley corner in the 53rd minute, which took a wicked deflection off a Burnden Park player and found the net for 3-0. Miley nearly repeated the trick in the 75th minute, only to be denied by the post. Three minutes later, she delivered another pinpoint corner—this time flying straight into the net, sealing a well-earned victory.
A special shoutout to Briana and Shauna, whose tenacity and relentless pressing saw them chase down every ball, keeping the pressure on Burnden Park and ensuring Breightmet stayed in control.
Another clean sheet marks a dominant defensive display, and with this result, Breightmet United extend their unbeaten run to 11 games, showing no signs of slowing down.
