Match Report: Astley Bridge 0-6 Breightmet United
Breightmet United started their season with a commanding 6-0 victory over Astley Bridge, making a strong statement about their ambitions for the year. With new additions to the squad and a balanced team performance, the Eagles look set to build on their successes from last season, including their memorable cup final appearance.
First Half:
The match began with Shaunna opening the scoring, showcasing her sharpness from all the hard work put in over the summer months. Grace Bick quickly added another, followed by Florence to make it three. Just before halftime, Lucy powered home a brilliant header, sending Breightmet into the break with a 4-0 lead.
New signing Grace Fletcher slotted seamlessly into defence, while Scarlett Rogerson, another new face, caused problems for Astley Bridge’s defence with her relentless movement across the front line.
Second Half:
Scarlett Rogerson continued her electric form, netting two fantastic second-half goals. The first was a sublime strike that will surely be up there for goal of the season. Her second came shortly after, capping off an excellent attacking performance for Breightmet United.
