Eagles Soar to the Top of the League
Breightmet United U14 Girls secured a commanding 6-0 victory over Haslingden in a thrilling display of skill and teamwork. The win propels the Eagles to the top of the league as they continue their unbeaten run this season.
Scarlett set the tone early with an impressive strike in the 4th minute, followed by a composed finish from Miley in the 15th. Macie extended Breightmet’s lead with a well-taken goal in the 32nd minute, ensuring the Eagles entered halftime with a comfortable advantage.
After the break, Lucy found the net with a precise shot in the 41st minute. Macie then added her second of the day in the 67th, showing her consistency throughout the match. The final nail in the coffin came when Niamh sealed the victory, scoring right on the final whistle.
It could have been a lot more for Breightmet, with the woodwork denying both Lila and Miley on separate occasions.
Standout performances were seen across the pitch. Lottie was named Players’ Player of the Match for her relentless work rate and influence. Coaches’ Player went to Maisie, who was pivotal in controlling the game from the back. Meanwhile, Lucy, who added to the scoresheet, was recognized as the Parents’ Player of the Match for her outstanding contribution throughout.
With solid defending across all the back line, Breightmet United never looked in danger. The team’s spirit and determination continue to shine as they soar to the top of the table
